Thunder Bay Nat. Marine Sanctuary  

The Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center, which opened in 2005, is a 20,000 square foot building on the north side of Alpena, along the Thunder Bay River, built by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to serve a dual purpose, research and education. Here, people can explore shipwrecks through pictures, lectured, live video feeds and by way of one very impressive globe.

Lighting up Michigan's history
